Holland America Line was honored for their volunteer work and longtime partnership with the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Western Washington and Alaska by receiving the President’s Volunteer Service Award. In 2012, the cruise line’s employees donated over 200 hours of service time sponsoring and serving evening meals at the Seattle Ronald McDonald House, which is open to the families of children seeking treatment at Seattle Children’s Hospital. Already, Holland America Line’s Guest Programs Department is set to continue and possibly outpace their volunteer work in 2013.
The President’s Volunteer Service Award was created by the U.S. Council on Service and Civic Participation in order to honor those who make significant contributions to fellow Americans through volunteer service.
